HDTV

HDTV stands for high definition television and it is the latest trend in home entertainment. In simple form HDTV offers you a better quality picture on your television set than a regular TV. It is in fact a digital television broadcasting system. The first regular broadcast of HDTV was in 2001 in Belgium, by the TV channel Euro1-80. The reason the picture is of a better quality is because HDTV has a greater number of lines of resolution.
To receive HDTV you must have a HD ready television set.
As it stands at this moment in time the TV sets a rather expensive, especially when compared to a standard TV set, but as with most things, the better the quality the higher the price.
HDTV is seen as the way forward in TV viewing, even some games consoles are now HDTV compatible, The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come ready made to do this.
